In fact, I don’t think that there is such a thing as “the root of all our problems.” When it comes to questions of social power and complexity, I just don’t think they can be answered by extirpation, by uprooting. I really enjoyed Wark's "Capital is Dead". She has a couple of chapter-length tangents that take the audience away from the central thesis. They're interesting and well-written in and of themselves but I would've liked her to clarify some things, especially the taxonomy of vectoralism.
e.g. She uses the word "information" quite a bit throughout her argument, but I don't think she ever neatly defines what she means by it.
For instance, I kept thinking: hasn't capitalist industry always relied on "information" in organizing the means of production? Obviously, the answer is yes but the difference now is that the character of information storage and distribution has changed. So maybe there would be some value in distinguishing between the past and present forms of information management. Without that clarification, I think people could be confused by her use of "information."
